SIA Applauds House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees for Bold Action in Support of U.S. Innovation -SAN JOSE, Calif. - June 19, 2008 - The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today praised the Members of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) and Members of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies (E&W) for their action this week in approving significant increases for science and engineering research.

By including $62.5 million for the Office of Science at the Department of Energy and $62.5 million for the National Science Foundation in the supplemental appropriations bill for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008, Congress affirmed the importance of basic research in physical sciences.
